Breeze Airways will launch nonstop flights from Tampa International Airport to St. Thomas and Cancun this December. St. Thomas marks the airport's inaugural connection to the U.S. Virgin Islands, while Cancun represents Breeze's maiden venture into Mexico.
Flights to St. Thomas depart twice each week on Wednesdays and Saturdays starting December 16. Cancun service also runs twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays beginning December 18. Fares begin at $149 one way for St. Thomas. Cancun tickets start at $129 one way.
St. Thomas flights land at Cyril E. King Airport. Cancun service connects to Cancun International Airport. U.S. citizens don't need a passport for St. Thomas since the U.S. Virgin Islands belong to the United States as a territory.
"With these new routes Tampa, will now offer service to all of our international destinations and be the first to experience our new service to the beautiful U.S. Virgin Islands," said David Neeleman, Breeze Airways' founder and CEO, in a statement, according to WTSP. "We know our guests will love these destinations, and we look forward to launching this winter."
These additions bring Breeze's total to 37 routes departing TPA. Five of those fly to international spots. The carrier celebrates its fifth year in business this month and earned recognition on TIME Magazine's TIME100 Most Influential Companies list for 2026.
"These two new routes mark exciting milestones for Tampa International Airport: Our first-ever flights to St. Thomas and Breeze Airways' first-ever service to Mexico from TPA," said Michael Stephens, Tampa International Airport CEO, in a statement. "Both destinations are in high demand among Tampa Bay travelers, and the timing couldn't be better as we look ahead to this year's busy holiday travel season."
The airline flies hundreds of routes across the U.S., Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean. Breeze uses Airbus A220-300 aircraft. Passengers get amenities like flexible booking and free family seating.
Tickets went on sale today for both routes. The December launch dates arrive just before the busy holiday travel season kicks off.
