The Chief's Advisory Panel for Tampa Police will gather May 5, at 6 p.m. Anyone can attend. No fees, no sign-ups required.

The group meets at 411 N. Franklin St. in Tampa. Attendees can speak during the session, which runs one hour, according to the Tampa.gov website.

The agenda covers approval of minutes from the February 3 gathering and a public comment period. New business items will address SOP 504 Training and Career Development plus SOP 504.11 Supervisor Development training.

Old business includes a Community Engagement presentation. The panel will also discuss AXON VR Training Pods and set plans for an August 5 session.

Proceedings begin with a call to order and the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll call happens next, then the panel moves to approve previous minutes.

The Chief's Advisory Panel offers input on police operations and policies. Details about the panel appear at tampa.gov/police/transparency/chiefs-advisory-panel.

People with disabilities who need accommodations must contact Tampa's ADA Coordinator at least 48 hours beforehand. The coordinator can be reached by phone at 813-274-3964 or by email at TampaADA@tampagov.net.

Those wanting to submit accommodation requests can use an online option at tampagov.net/ADARequest. This meets requirements under the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 286.26, Florida Statutes.

Anyone who decides to appeal any decision made at the gathering will need a record of what happened. Section 286.0105, Florida Statutes, says that individuals may need to hire a court reporter to ensure a verbatim record gets made.

The record must include testimony and evidence on which the appeal will be based. This applies to any matter considered at the public gathering.
