Trailer Daddy will open at 217 Central Ave. in downtown St. Petersburg on March 6. The spot transforms what used to be Glamper into a retro trailer park-themed bar. Forward Hospitality Group runs this 5,000-square-foot venue.

Doors swing open at 8 p.m. on Thursday. Neon signs glow. Hooked-up caravans sit waiting. Lawn flamingos dot the space, while retro campers complete the scene that mimics a trailer park.

Forward Hospitality Group owns other St. Petersburg spots — Good Night John Boy, Welcome to the Farm, My Rich Uncle, Hi 5, and Tony D's Sub Shop. The company swapped out its Glamper concept with this bar at the same address.

"St. Pete has real momentum for us right now. It's creative, it's growing, and it welcomes concepts that bring personality to the table," said Bobby Rutter with Forward Hospitality Group, per I Love the Burg.com.

The bar's backstory? Meet Waylon "Daddy" Whitley, a Pensacola used-car salesman who scored $50,000 from a gas station scratch-off ticket. He poured the winnings into his dream: opening a bar in St. Pete with cold beer and neon signs.

Classic rock and country music fill the air. Guests sip cocktails named Porch Pounder, M'urica and Pickleback — all served in flamingo glasses.

After opening, the spot stays open seven days a week. Opening weekend brings special events on Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday hosts a Best Mullet Contest on March 7. Show up wearing a mullet or wig? Skip the line. One winner claims a permanent spot in the new Mullet Hall of Fame.

Sunday kicks off at noon on March 8. The first 50 guests through the door score a free Bud Light.

The team calls it part bar, part club — a trailer park dreamland, with hot grills, cold cans, and laundry drying on a line. Every piece builds the backyard vibe.
