The 12 Winter Olympians With Florida Ties For the 2026 Games
While Florida isn’t known for snow and ice, an impressive number of athletes with Florida roots are making waves on the world stage at the Milan-Cortina Olympic Games.

From the ice of long-track speed skating and the figure skating rink to the slopes and the rink of NHL stars, Floridians and Florida-born competitors are proving the Sunshine State has winter talent too.
Most notably, both of Team USA's flag-bearers for these Olympic Games are originally from Florida. Congratulations to Erin Jackson (speed skating) and Frank Del Duca (bobsled) on the huge honor.

Brittany Bowe — Speed Skating
- Hometown: Ocala, Florida
- Sport: Long-track speed skating
- Olympic Experience: Competing at her fourth Winter Games in 2026; previous appearances include 2014, 2018, and 2022.
- Achievements & Facts:
- Two-time Olympic bronze medalist in long-track speed skating from past Games.
- Former inline skating world medalist with dozens of world championship medals before switching to ice.
- Announced that Milano Cortina 2026 would be her final Olympic appearance.
- Played basketball at Florida Atlantic, and is in their Hall of Fame.

Erin Jackson — Speed Skating

- Notable Achievements:
- 2022 Olympic gold medalist in the 500 meter — the first Black woman in U.S. history to win an individual gold at the Winter Games.
- A leading sprinter for Team USA in the 500 m and 1000 m events in 2026.
- Selected as co-flag bearer for Team USA.

Andrew Torgashev — Figure Skating
- Hometown: Coral Springs, Florida
- Sport: Men’s singles figure skating
- Olympic Experience: Selected to the U.S. Olympic team for Milano Cortina 2026 after strong results at the U.S. Championships, his first Olympic appearance.
- Interesting Facts:
- Son of Ilona Melnichenko and Artem Torgashev, both former competitive skaters for the Soviet Union
- U.S. national medalist and international competitor on the Grand Prix circuit.

Mia Manganello-Kilburg — Speed Skating

- Sport: Long-track speed skating
- Olympic Experience: Competed in 2018 and 2022 Olympics for Team USA.
- Interesting Facts:
- Won Bronze medal in 2018 Pyeongchang Games for Team Pursuit.
- Also a professional cyclist and multi-sport athlete.

Josh Williamson — Bobsled
- From: Sanford, Florida
- Sport: Bobsled (two-man/four-man)
- Olympic Experience: Competed in the 2022 Olympics and qualified again in 2026.
- Other Notes: Former college lacrosse standout before switching to bobsled. Won a reality competition, "The Next Olympic Hopeful" and joined the bobsled team.
Frank Del Duca — Bobsled
- Hometown: Fort Lauderdale, Florida (born in Broward County) - Now lives in Maine
- Sport: Bobsleigh driver
- Olympic Experience: Represented the U.S. in 2022 and selected again in 2026.
- Notable Fact: Also served in the U.S. Army World Class Athlete Program while competing internationally. Will be the co-flag bearer for Team USA.

Matthew Tkachuk — Ice Hockey

- Florida Link: Represents the state at the professional level and was named to the 2026 U.S. Olympic roster for hockey, his first.
- Background: A star winger and alternate captain known for dynamic two-way play.

- Connection: Minnesota native plays for the Tampa Bay Lightning in the NHL.

Jack Hughes & Quinn Hughes — Hockey Siblings
Both brothers were born in Florida before rising through elite hockey ranks and earning spots on the 2026 Olympic roster. Michigan claims the duo now, but they've got Florida blood.

- Olympic Legacy: One of the most decorated U.S. alpine skiers ever — Olympic gold in downhill (2010) and multiple Olympic medals in her career.
- Interesting Note: Came out of retirement to pursue a final Olympic run though suffered injury in a World Cup event. She tore her ACL, but still says she will compete for Team USA.

From Ocala speed skaters rewriting Winter Olympics history, to NHL stars flying the flag in hockey, Florida’s footprint on winter sports continues to grow. Whether it’s legacy names like Lindsey Vonn or new faces like Nick Page and Andrew Torgashev, these athletes are proving that sunshine and snow don’t have to be exclusive.
