A familiar spot on St. Pete Beach is getting a new chapter under a surprising new owner.
Woody’s Waterfront, the laid-back restaurant and bar that stood on Sunset Way overlooking Blind Pass for more than three decades, has officially changed hands. The longtime local favorite, shuttered after suffering significant damage from Hurricane Helene in late 2024, was purchased this week by Turner “Tfue” Tenney, a Florida-born Twitch streamer and esports personality.
Tfue, who grew up in the area and has built a huge online following playing Fortnite and streaming to millions, paid $2.4 million for the property, according to county records. The sale includes the restaurant site and adjacent lots that had been listed after the owners decided it was time for someone else to bring a new vision to the space.
The beloved beach bar has grown a longtime community following, and had a long history before it became a casualty of the storm. Originally established in the 1940s as a bait house, it evolved through the years into Woody’s Restaurant and Bar, with a reputation for seafood, wings, burgers and cold drinks just steps from the water.
Its former owners, Roxene Riles and Marlo George, had held the property since the late 1980s and shared on social media last year that after reviewing their options, they were ready to pass the torch and let someone else “build their vision” at the site.
What comes next for the waterfront staple is still unfolding. A source familiar with the deal says Tfue plans to open a new restaurant at the location, but details and a timeline have not been announced.
For locals who remember Woody’s for its trivia nights, live music and “Jeep Night” gatherings, change is on the horizon.
